Contemporary Aritist

Yue Minjun is a Chinese artist. In 1985, Yue graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Hebei Normal University, and he found a job teaching drawing at North China College. Yue living and working in Beijing now.  The best known of him is oil paintings that drawing himself frozen in laughing face. He was inspired by a painting by Geng Jianyi, which is Geng's own laughing face. He has used this signature image in sculpture, watercolor and print, as well as on canvas. His work is often termed Cynical Realist. This movement was not just for creating an art form or style, the artists' concern was that their activity be a part of the social change. These artists created works that exposed both their suffering and cover it with irony. Some time, his art included some Chinese culture.
Like those sculptures have the same idea with the terracotta army which is very old Chinese sculpture.
I like his work because it is fun to see everything in his laughing faces, but it also has a deeper meaning behind his laughing faces.

MCA Reflection

This time, we went to the MCA(Museum of Contemporary Art). We took the bus and Gitte wanted us to write down 10 object. After a while, she took us to cross out 5. When we arrive MCA, she took us to cross out other 4. First, we look around the first floor, and there are a work call Untitled from Jo Baer. This is like 2 white square in 2 black square, and the artist asks us to ponder whether the centers are empty or full. Next, We were asked to draw down the object that I did not cross out. That is a bus. And then, I found some old TV, which had some painting on the screen, on the other floors. The reflection of the TV with the painting was very fun. Lastly, we went to the store. There are so many interesting product in the store like book, key chain, clock and phone all related to the contemporary art. I think this is a great trip at all.

AIC II Reflection

Although, this was the third time I visit AIC, I still could see many art works different from the last two times, even I think more things I have not seen yet. We borrowed a little phone, which can tell us some information about the art work. and we also need to do a small presentation.
Camel
This is what I need to present. Its name is Three-color(sancai) and it is from China Tang Dynasty 8th century.  In 8th century, China was doing business with some Central Asia countries using camels though the silk road. This art work describes the situation at that time. There are mainly three color: orange, green and yellow in the body.

Reflection of the movie "Goya's Ghost"

This movie is talking about the story of a Spanish painter Fransico Goya and a girl. The girl had been arrest because she did not eat pork. And her father was a business asked Goya for help. And Goya asked a monk for help but they failed. 15 years later, the Napoleon took over Spain. The girl release by the Napoleon. She said she had a child when she is in the prison with the monk. Goya wanted to help her to find her daughter. And the monk had became a general of the Napoleon.
I love this movie because it talks about some history. And it is so touch when Goya said "Her face carve on my mind, she is an angle I saw her in the street, my dream, I saw her face when I though I were died. I didn't do anything for her, I am not abandon her again "

AIC reflection

This week we went to the AIC and watch about modern art. First of all, I studied a painting "A Sunday on La Crande" by George Seurat 1884-1986. This is about people in the lakeside. I looked carefully I can see red, orange and blue dots. They were added by George in the final change 1889. He used the highly systematic and scientific technique in this painting. Then, I went to see some Van Gogh's painting. "The Poet's Garden", "Fishing in Spring, the Pont de Clichy" and "The bed room". After that, I saw the "Sdy Above Clouds IV" by Georgia O' Keefe. He drew the higher clouds smaller and the cloud in the bottom is bigger to show to distant. Finally, I had a presentation with Hanna. We choose the "Mother and Child" by Pablo Picasso. This is a representational painting with a mother holding a baby. We think its subject matter is about mother's love. This is one of the painting that Picasso drew about mother and child. Since he married a Russian dancer and had a son with her.

This is a great trip in AIC. I have seen some much great painting.

Blog Assignment#2

This is Taipei 101.
2 years ago, I went to travel Taipei with my friends in summer. Taipei 101 was one of our Destinations. We went there at night. First, We bought the tickets at the bottom lobby and then took the elevator to the observation floor. In there, we can almost see the whole Taipei, and it had a big iron ball inside the observation floor.
This is a great experience about architecture. We was having a good time in there. I hope we will travel more place like this.
This is "tuned mass damper" help the buliding against the wind.

Blog assignment#1

This is "Grace ballerinas" by Yin Zixin(China).
I choose this because of their locatioin. It is in a Hong Kong subway station that I uesd to walk though every day. I saw them in the middle of the subway station every day, but I didn't really watch them. Now I cannot watch them anymore, so I stated to miss them. Sometimes I went home at midnight. They looked a litte scary for me,  but this is a kind of special feeling for them.
